Famous Japanese Cosplayer Kipi, will be attending this year’s Singapore Toy Game and Comics Convention.
This is announced yesterday on their website. This is the first time Kipi is coming to Singapore.
Previous Cosplays by Kipi includes characters from K-On!, Macross Frontier, KOF, Haruhi Suzumiya, My Otome, and etc.

From the 10th to 12th of Dec 2010, over at Suntec there will be the Singapore Toy, Games and Comic Convention. One of the highlight for them will most likely be the AKB48 appearance and it’s many comics artist appearances.
But for me, some of the smaller stuff are the items that’s drawing me there…
The KKnM booth, yes KKnM is appearing at the STGCC. And they will be bringing with them the Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiyah Premium KUJI! Looks almost like a sure win…
Local artist, dreary weary’s booth, the creator of LOTI and The Resident Tourist will be holding a booth there and will be putting a few posters on pre-order there. To me LOTI is good.
Karneval’s first English launch, by Chuang Yi. This is the first time that CY have done such a thing, I mean the launch. They have brought about quite a few first in terms of English languages releases, etc, Blaue Rose, Absolute Boyfriend and etc…
Some of the events there will also include the debut event from the COSPLAY ALLIANCE, a group formed just this year… There will also be some launch of new toys and computer games at the 4 day long event.

Kaname and Aira, they are cosplayers from Japan, invited to attend the AFA X by the organisers.
Kaname is the 2nd time here after AFA 09, other then acting as the judges for the Regional Cosplay Competition, they will also be taking part in a panel where they answer a few question and then shows off some tips for cosplayers about posting for photos.

Q: Kaname-san, have you ever cosplay a female character before ?
A: No, I have not cosplay as a female character but I have cosplay as a feminine character. It is benten from Zone00. I cosplay in his first year of cosplay and it was cosplay for fun.
Q: Have you ever met any interesting fans in your road of cosplay ?
A: Yes, I have met a lot of crazy and interesting fans before. There was once when I cosplay as Ace from One Piece and there is this boy cosplaying as Luffy and ask him “Are you KANAME?”. He is such a small boy. I was surprised as his mum is behind and she says she is a big fan too.
Q: What was the major factor that brought you into the world cosplay ?
A: Back in the days, I do not have much friends that likes cosplay and otaku hobby and I have been hiding my hobby as it seems embarrassing. A few years back, I have a girlfriend back and I have been suppressing my otaku hobby for a long time. I have a back illness that time and went into rehabilitation treatment. After I broke up with my girlfriend, I went all out and decide to do what I like.
Also, KANAME thinks that the creator for safety pin is god. Those who attended the cosplay panel will know why. ^^

Q: Which character takes you the most time and why ?
A: Hatsune Miku Synchronicity version from the vocaloid version as there are a lot of parts to take care of and lots of painting to do. It takes a whole lot of time.
Q: How do you feel about cosplay characters that bare a lot of skin ?
A: Nothing, nothing at all. It is okay and I do not mind, it is about making the image of the character as what it is from the series. Singapore cosplayers, what do you think about baring a lot of skin (Audience: SEXY!)
Q: A character that looks real good or a character that looks terrible but you like the character
A: It is the same as KANAME, if you cosplay the character you don’t like, you will lose heart in doing the cosplay and end up throwing away the project but as a girl, we will usually love characters that are beautiful or more suited for girls

AFA X Regional Cosplay Competition presented by Canon is over and everyone can agree that we have seen some awesome display of cosplay skills and movement.
All teams this year incorporated action into their skits, and did really well. I am sure, this have really stumbled the Judges, as it took a rather long time to tabulate the score and come out with a winner.
Being a Singapore, my support is most definitely on Team Defense Devil. Still they out performed beyond my expectations with big movements, good acting and some surprises. But still Thailand have to be the best when it comes to their costumes, acting and their story.
Team Thailand deserves the 1st place.

And so I went back for another look on AFA Day 2, to verify their word. Looks like they are telling the truth~ They even helped us take a picture and printed it for us.

I have even found they base, at the top right hand corner of the hall, the Photo booths! They were quite popular, aren’t they? I see pictures stacking up almost into a pile and cosplayers taking turns to assault the booths and the photographer manning it…
Best of all… It’s FREE! So even I got 1 Ｏ(≧∇≦)Ｏ
Also it looks like the Pixma AIO printers in there are also taking quite a hit but I must say, the quality of the printing is really something, and I got my A4 prints in no more then 5 minutes. Then again I was distracted by the other column when waiting…

He came last year and now he is back! The maestro shall now come to give his judgment on the Regional Cosplay Competition 2010. Kaname is very easy going and a really nice person. Will be looking forward to meeting him!
Aira,the female cosplayer that created some stir online from her cosplay as Mio, Mari and many more. Each of them looking so good and photogenic. It will be a real treat to see her in action.
In my humble opinion should be the winner of last year’s Regional Cosplay Competition, but still… She went on to be the Ani-mate for Animax South East Asia and even went on a field trip to America, where she might have landed herself a movie role. She is Alodia, the cosplayer from Philippines.
Comprising of the seiyus from the currently running anime, Milky Holmes.
They comprise of the Seiyus for the characters in the anime, Izumi Kitta as Cordelia Glauca, Mikoi Sasaki as Hercule Barton, Sora Tokui as Nero Yuzurisaki and Suzuko Mimori as Sherlock Shellingford.
Together with Bushiroad, they will be making a special appearance at the AFA X. Of course without saying, this will be the first time the group have visited Singapore or South East Asia.

The voice behind Tenshi and a lot of the memorable characters like Suou(Darker then Black 2), Kobato(Kobato), Nadeko(Bakamonogatori), Zange(Kannagi), just to name a few.
A seiyu since the age of 17 and have been in the media industry since 7, she is Kana Hanazawa, the moe-est voice in the industry! She will be traveling out of Japan for the first event ever in her career, to Singapore for the Anime Festival Asia X!
So be honored!

Danny Choo, my hero will be in Singapore to be the Special Guest for this year’s Anime Festival Asia X. One thing for sure, his Singapore CGM night will be one item I’m going to be gunning for this year! And according to his tweet, he might be hosting the CGM night at Lau Pa Sa.
Also he will be the special host for the COOL JAPAN Forum held on the 12th of November.
I hope to meet him again this year and maybe talk to him without stuttering… Like in the interview I did last year,

I would like to make a correction. In a previous update titled AFA X: RCC2010, cosplay, Media Update(22nd Oct), I made a mistake by assuming that one of the picture featuring a group cosplay comprise of both the Singapore representatives, Zelph and Kaika from Team Defense Devil.

It is in fact the picture of Zeph and Skype(another cosplayer). I am sorry for causing this mistake and for any inconvenience and awkwardness caused.
This is Kaika
The picture about is a collage of Kaika’s cosplay and it’s wonderful, don’t you think? She will be representing Singapore, as Team Defense Devil together with Zeph for the Regional Cosplay Competition, presented by Canon.
She even have her own blog, the cosplay chronicle, for updates related to the local and regional Cosplay scene.
To Kaika, I hope you can forgive my mistake and I wish you all the best for the competition!
Canon, maker of Camera and printers is announced to be one of the sponsor for this year’s Anime Festival Asia. And they will be bringing with them a list of events for everyone to participate in.
More details regarding the events and activities will be announced soon. Thou you might find interesting that the selphy girls will be walking around the AFA X hall area looking to visitors to take pictures with them.

But the winner doesn’t always means he will get the most out of it… Last year Alodia Gosiengfiao didn’t take home the championships but went to become one of the most well known cosplayer in South East Asia after being selected a Ani-Mate by Animax SEA, then just recently, she is even cosplaying digitally, with TinierMe.
Now, She is coming back to Singapore and this time as a celebrity Cosplayer together with Kaname☆ and Aira.
