As most are aware by now, Japan was hit by the Great Tohoku Earthquake on March 11th. The Japanese Red Cross wasted no time in kick-starting relief efforts during the aftermath of this disaster. To continue bringing in support for their efforts, the organization is reaching out through Japan’s top idols, AKB48.
Members Watanabe Mayu, Oshima Yuko,Takahashi Minami and Maeda Atsuko were featured in the Red Cross’ new CM, which highlights some of the things the Red Cross did for the disaster victims. AKB48 also contributed Team K’s new song, “Boku ni Dekiru Koto“, which would be included in the group’s new album, “Koko ni Ita Koto“.
Hobby Arts Gallery, one of the more popular modeling shop in Singapore managed to raise S$10,493. 87, which they will round off to S$10,500, for the Japanese Red Cross via the Japanese Embassy in Singapore.
Thanks for all the support from our distributor Sheng Tai, modelers Kenny Lim, Leon Ku, Sam Lim and Erik Tan, and most importantly our great customers, we manage to raise $10,493.87 for the Japan Relief Fund. We will round off the amount to S$10,500, which will be donated to Japan Red Cross via the Japanese Embassy in Singapore.
Did you watch Hanasaku Iroha? if you did you might notices the telephone number given to Iroha Ohana by her mom… Well that is a real telephone number and when you call it(Japanese line) you get this Voice msg in the video.
081-076-1235-1168 is the number to call if you have spare cash or is in Japan.
This is a clearer version of the voice recording compared to the one posted on facebook
I tried using twitcast at SOYC and used Daiyaku as the test rat… A not so good Interview on what Kataru is about. In short it’s a Dojin and animated Visual novel about love, it’s not +18 8P

You might also wanna look at our twitcast channel for some other (not very good) videos of SOYC. Like the reaction to Animax’s English dubbed Yuki…
That is about it. Unless you wanna see the OP for one of this season’s anime, Tiger and Bunny. It’s a very commercialized OP that is featuring product placement, logo placements and etc.
If you have voted for the cheapest way to fly to Japan(from Singapore) then you should look at this seasonal offer from Japan Air Lines. At just SGD794 you will be able to fly to Tokyo.
But some rules applies,
Need 2 to fly
must return before April
While stock last.
With these, I would like to announce that Ani-Culture.net will be going to Tokyo Japan, this Spring(Late March)! And just hopefully we can bring you some pictures from the inaugural Anime Content Expo!
Oh this is so exciting!
P.S: we might also just drop by the now defunct T.A.F for a look see… … Afterall it’s the Tokyo big sight around Tokyo Bay…
Yoshinobu Nishizaki, 75, the co-creator of the series Space Battleship Yamato dies, after falling of a his boat(Yamato) last Sunday.
Nishizaki, is also the creator of a few other nautical themed animes, like Space Carrier Blue Noah, Odin: Photon Sailer Starlight and Yamato 2520.
Yamoto 2520, his latest production, which is supposed to be a sequel of the Yamato, set 100 years after the end of Space Battleship Yamato. But was sued by his co-creator for copyright infringement and then stopped as the production company went bankrupted.
Amusingly, he was also the person to introduce Tentacle rape in Animes, through Urotsukidoji.
It’s is unfortunate that he is unable to see the movie remake of Space Battleship Yamato, which opens 1st of December in Japan.
To his family and kins, my condolences and thank you, Yoshinobu Nishizaki for the wonderful memories.
Edit(13/3): If you are here because you think the Pokemon creator, Satoshi Tajiri is dead due to the M8.9 Japanese Earth Quake. This is not an article about that. Infact, Satoshi-sensei is not dead, and is proven by Nintendo to be alive and well. This article is about Takeshi Shudo – sensei, the writer of the first arc of Pokemon.
Takeshi Shudo(1949 – October 28, 2010), the writer of Pokemon and the chief writer for the first arcs of Pokemon and the first 3 featured films dies after suffering from a subarachnoid hemorrhage in the head.
He was found at a smoking point at Nara railway station, and rushed to the hospital on the 28th of October. Mr Shudo is 61 years old when he died.
Other then Pokemon, he is also the creator of Fairy Princess Minky Momo and some of his other works includes Idol Tenshi Youkoso Yoko, Legend of the Galactic Heroes, Martian Successor Nadesico, and Tokusou Kihei Dorvack.
My favorite work of his would have to be Pokemon: The First Movie aka “Mew Two Strikes Back” and the Kanto arc of the Pokemon. I give my condolences to the family of Mr. Shudo and thank him for the many fond memories he had given me through his brilliant story writing.
