IND: Japanese Culture Festival at Surabaya

This is quite sudden, I just got news from a friend about an event of Japanese culture in my own town, Surabaya which will be held pretty soon, from today in fact.

Pretty surprising actually, because since last week we haven’t heard anything regarding the event.

The event will be held at Atrium Rainbow Plaza, BG Junction, Surabaya on 27 January at 2PM till 9PM and on 28-29 January at 10AM til 9PM by Surabaya’s Japan Embassy, Surabaya’s Universities and some Japanese language schools/organizations.

There are lot’s of performance and competition mentioned at the poster. There are Yosakoi dance, Sakura Odori, Workshop Origami, Cha no Yu, Acoustic and Taiko Performance for performance section and Origami Competition, Decorate-Bento Competition, Karaoke, Using Chopstick, Quiz and Cosplay for competition section.

There is no entrance fee but there maybe competition fees. If you are interested to join the competition, please contact the number mentioned on the poster for more information.

It’s been a while since we had this kind of event, maybe the first one in this year. I can only attend day one though but I’ll get many pictures so you can see if the event is suitable for your taste or not. If you are in Surabaya, Indonesia and have some spare time, do mind visit the event. If you see me, don’t be afraid to say hi! xD

Last Sunday, it’s a trio of events, worldwide we have the Japanese Language Proficiency Test, in *SCAPE, Singapore, AKB48 Singapore theatre’s final volume by NMB48 for 2011 and in Japan, Shinjuku, the Tokyo Nico Nico Cospllection.

Personally I watched the online stream via NicoNico Douga after the live is over thru its “Timeshift” program.

And I must say, the cosplay quality is darn high! With over a hundred cosplayers attending the event, including the well-known Kaname, Kipi, Usagi and more!

In the section where Final Fantasy is honoured, we have stunningly beautiful looking Yuna cosplayer, and the real life Cloud by Kaname

During the show, K1 Lightweight boxer Yuichiro “Jien Otsu” Nagashima, even made an appearances.

The Dance group, Danceroid also did a number, dancing to the music from Uta no☆Prince sama♪ and cosplaying as the princes and princess~

Of cos, there are moments where it’s very fun but dangerously hurtful when the Pokemon team walks on the stage, stunning everyone with their “daring” costumes… I’m sure many while having fun watching it will feel the pain later on…

However like Singapore, Vocaloid is also in the rage now in Japan. But unlike Singapore, there were many, many variation of it!

Toei Animation Philippines is a subsidiary of Toei Animation Co. LTD. (TAPI) was established in 1986.They celebrated their 25th anniversary in the Philippines.

They are the makers of the animes GeGeGe no Kitaro,Cyborg 009, Voltes V,Voltron, Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider, Pretty Cure, Ayakashi: Samurai Horror Tales, Air Gear, Mazinger Z, One Piece and many more.

The event titled “TOEInty Five! Toei Animation Philippines 25th Anniversary Celebrations”, went on from 10:00am till 10:00pm, on the 26th of November, at the Eastwood City, Libis, Quezon City, Philippines.

The Anime Festival Asia 2011 sees also the Regional Cosplay Competition being held again for the 3rd year running.

Cosplay Mania ‘11 is the Philippine’s premiere event for cosplay and cosplaying enthusiasts.
