I can’t believe that I have missed the Sales of the season… haiz… Figmas and nendroids from $10!!! And this is a Legit sales some more… Oh why am I not there… Hope KKnM will do the same at A.C.M.E II…
Oh my… … But still there are indeed people who missed the chance, by ignorantly thinking that it’s a bootleg item, choosing instead to buy the same item at a few times the price. I found out, when I read a facebook entry by the retailer, I trusted.
It’s good that the buyer made use of the skill of inference taught to them in Social Studies, but this time they forgot to do their research and examine the product on the shelf… Too bad for them, ne.
Not all figurine bootlegs are as easily recognised as Sader above… and yup it’s true that there is an abundances of bootleg items both online and in the stores, making it a reason why knowing your buying source is an important knowledge.
Example online, there are established sites like HobbyJapan and Hobbysearch for figurines and CDJapan for CDs and DVDs while offline we can always visit KKnM, Hobbypoint, Hobby Art Gallery, FunzCentre and etc, in Singapore.
Just note that, like the Memory Stick bootlegs, Figurine bootlegs can be hard to differentiate and I know of places that sell the bootleg at the same price as the original. You should avoid places that had a history of selling bootlegged stuff… be mindful of the price, things that are too cheap can’t be good unless otherwise and lastly examine your intended purchase, for you will never know when you can find a good deal!
For those collectors looking for a good deal in Singapore, the next date you should look out for is August 24th, for A.C.M.E II.
P.S: Those who bought Figurines during cosfest, please check if your figure(esp nendroid) is fake… I noticed a few suspected bootlegs on sale during the festival, I wouldn’t say who… But it’s name start with a P…
For most, if not all of Kadokawa related good, there will be a Hologram sticker with a Kadokawa Logo(circle in red), so here is another tip for you, and Haruhi Suzumiyah range of goods have this sticker.
P.P.S: If you have been to a video store recently either to buy or browse about, you should have seen a few Imported(from malaysia) Animes, namely Code Geass, selling at $12 plus a box with low quality printing and doubtful text… You should be smart enough to know that those are bootlegs. PLEASE DO NOT BUY THEM! Please!
Original or licensed DVD/VCDs should have the Japanese Licensee’s name and credit, in Code Geass’s case, it should have Bandai’s name somewhere.
